Migration during alpha

Understand Scout UI's v0.1 alpha API freeze and how future breaking changes will be communicated.

Search terms: migration, alpha, API freeze, Changesets, breaking changes, changelog

Scout UI has no published historical release to migrate from. This page does not invent versions, deprecations, or upgrade steps that do not exist.

Current migration status

The M11 public alpha surface is frozen in repository snapshots while packages remain private and unpublished. There is currently no released migration path.

How a future break is handled

An intentional public API change requires an authoritative specification update, a Changeset with migration intent, implementation and packed-fixture changes, and a reviewed public-API snapshot update. During 0.x, breaking changes should be batched and explained rather than hidden in examples.

Where to look

Development milestones appear on the changelog and are clearly separated from future npm release notes. Package release entries and migration instructions will appear only when M18 establishes the release workflow.

Avoid deep-import coupling

Use declared root or component subpath exports. Imports through src, dist, or private geometry helpers are outside the contract and cannot receive a migration guarantee.
